Our Verdict

We’ve seen this offer for either Gas or Groceries, sometimes with a lower $6,000 spend limit. This time it’s for both Gas & Groceries, and it comes with a $12,000 combined limit. Just double check that you see this precise offer as there are other versions floating around.

Hopefully this offer will be available via referral links as well. That will get your friend a bonus along the way.

This offer also coincides well with the Chase Freedom Flex 5% quarterly category which includes Gas this quarter. I believe you’ll get 8.5x total when combining the signup offer and after activating the quarterly category.

Keep in mind while these cards talk about cash back you actually earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points. This means if you have an annual fee card such as Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Ink Plus or Chase Ink Preferred then you can transfer these points to travel partners. You could also use these points for the Chase Pay Yourself back feature to make them worth 1.25¢ each.

Unfortunately a lot of readers won’t be eligible for these cards/bonus due to the Chase 5/24 rule. We will still be adding this to our list of the best credit card bonuses.
