Update 7/26/24: Seems July is the final month for the credits and for the free year/months or Instacart+. Be sure to add all of your Sapphire and Freedom cards to stack up as many months of Instacart+ as you can for free. I forgot about my new Freedom card which I recently got; I’ll add that to my Instacart to stack an additional 3 months of free Instacart+ membership after my year of free Sapphire Reserve membership ends down the road. (thanks to Dansdeals for the reminder)
Update 2/23/23: Readers let me know that you can add your Freedom cards to extend the Instacart+ free membership. I added my Sapphire Reserve for a free year, and now was able to add my two Freedom cards to get an extra 3 months of free membership from each. You need to add the cards at this link. (Adding your Freedom cards will also allow you to take advantage of the Freedom $10 quarterly statement credit as well.)
Update 8/1/22: There’s now a monthly or quarterly statement credit for Chase cardholders as well. Full details in this post.
The Offer
Chase credit cardholders can receive free Instacart+ membership for 3, 6, or 12 months.
Sapphire Reserve gets 12 months
Sapphire Preferred gets 6 months
Freedom and Slate cards get 3 months
Instacart+ gives the following benefits:
$0 delivery fees on orders of $35 or more (typically starting at $3.99 for non-Instacart+)
Reduced service fees
The Fine Print
Instacart charges your card once your account converts to a paid plan at the end of your free membership. You’ll receive a welcome email after signing up which will tell you your next membership renewal date. Then you’ll receive an email notice 30 days before renewal.
This offer begins June 15, 2022, and must be redeemed by July 31, 2024.
Our Verdict
They ran a similar promo last year on most Chase cards to get a free year of Instacart, and some people even got it free through June. Just be sure to cancel before getting charged if you don’t want the paid subscription; you can cancel right away by going to Manage plan > Turn off auto-renew. Separately, keep in mind that Instacart prices are often higher than in store.
