After being a multi-month hiatus from applying for credit cards, I hit the ground running with instant approvals on the Chase INK Preferred and Capital One Spark. Going through some bills tonight, I realized that I’ll have more spend than necessary to meet the bonus on those two cards. And so I decided to take a stab at the Amex Business Platinum 190k offer.
I was easily able to pull up both the Business Platinum 190,000 offer and the Business Gold 150,000 offer in Chrome incognito. After some consideration, I decided on the Business Platinum. I did try a bit for the monster 250,000 offer, but after a bunch of failed attempts I settled on the 190,000 offer.
Honestly, there wasn’t much hope in my mind of actually getting the card since presumably I’d get the notorious pop-up message declining me the bonus since only two months ago I closed out my previous Business Platinum card.
Imagine my surprise when I got an instant approval on the card with no pop-up message. Yay! Maybe I’ll try confirming with Amex chat that the bonus is attached (though I’ve never heard that be an issue for someone who did not get a pop-up message).
It was a bit strange that they initially just said that my application has been received, but then followed up asking if I wanted to add an employee card. Soon-after, following the prompts, it was clear in the screens that my application had been approved.
They emailed me indicating approval as well. And they gave me an instant card number to use as well. They also told me to expect the card by tomorrow – Amex is always quick with getting a new card to the customer.
I declined the employee card offer since this 190k offer does not have an employee bonus attached to it. I’ll have to check if there’s any way for me to add an employee offer afterward; that would be sweet since the same spend toward the employee bonus would then double toward the signup bonus.
