You can only get the sign up bonus on American Express cards once per lifetime.
There is lifetime language on this offer (though you can easily just apply, anyway, and see whether they give you a popup or not): “Welcome offer not available to applicants who have or have had this Card. We may also consider the number of American Express Cards you have opened and closed as well as other factors in making a decision on your welcome offer eligibility.”
Our Verdict
Reader CM reported seeing this offer, and I was able to find it on multiple incognito browsers. We’ve seen massive targeted offers of 260,000 or 230,000, but for the regular folk 150,000 or 160,000 have been the best offers available. It’s nice to see a new high 170,000 with the same $15,000 spend requirement.
A reader notes that if you friend/spouse has a high Amex referral bonus, you might prefer signing up there if you can get 150k bonus + 25k referral bonus (just note the tax implications on the referral bonus side).
You can read about my own recent Amex Business Platinum card signup bonus here. If this is widely accessible we’ll add it to our list of Best Current Credit Card Signup Bonuses.
